My name is Denis Krob, social worker by profession. I've lived nearly my entire life in The Hague, though my cradle stood across the border, in Germany.
For more than twenty years, I've had the privilege of walking alongside people, as a helper, through the process they go through when they're ready for change, or when their circumstances force them to change.

Specialisation: Corporate Social Work
My specialisation is Corporate Social Work, in which I've now worked for 8 years. During my time at an occupational health service, I got to know its commercial side, and in my 4.5 years with the Dutch national government, I experienced the versatility of internal corporate social work.
I actually wanted to work as an independent helper ever since I finished my degree. It took a while, but there came a point, not long after my 40th birthday, when I decided I didn't want to keep waiting. If I keep doing what I did, I'll keep getting what I got. And what I got from being employed had, for a long time, given me too little energy.
I chose the name of my business, Falsework Counselling, because it captures exactly what I intend to do. A Falsework, in Dutch "bekisting", is a temporary structure used in construction. It supports a structure (such as an arch or a bridge) until it's strong enough to carry itself.
That's how I see my own role in my clients' process, too: temporary support, for lasting change.
